A personal trainer is a qualified individual who can support your fitness journey by imparting their knowledge and skills in exercise to help you achieve your fitness and physique goals.

Not all personal trainers are the same.  Some PTs will work with everyone, others will have their own niche and specialism.  Also, every professional has their own way of working, so it is worth doing your research to find out which one you warm to and you feel will really support you in achieving your goals.

 

Here are my top 5 reasons why you should work with a PT:

1) Personal Trainers will hold you accountable.  They will check in on you, they will track your progress so you can clearly see how you have been doing from week to week.

2) They know what they're talking about.  You can aimlessly do workouts you find on Google, Instagram or YouTube but they won't be suited to you specifically.  A personal trainer will create a programme designed to your capabilities and one that is in line with your goal.

3) They will motivate you.  It can be easy to do a workout and not really push yourself.  Your personal trainer will soon know your limits and will in turn be able to push you harder when they see you can offer more.  In the same vein, if they see you are near failure, they will tell you to slow it down.

4) They will help you realise your true potential.  Before you start your journey, you might feel like, "I just can't do it!"  Here, a great trainer will encourage you and make you believe in yourself.  They will turn your goal into one that is attainable and that you can see yourself fulfilling.

5) They can empathise.  All professionals began as novices, so where you think "I'm not fit enough" or "I need to lose weight before I start," they were once not as fit as they are now or not as happy with how they look as they might be now.  It is for this reason that personal trainers get into this occupation, they want to help others succeed.
